Baron Girbelda (ギルベルダ男爵, Girubelda Danshaku)^? is an aristocrat who likes to falsely accuse other people in Etelldia of stealing things that actually do not belong to him.

Background

Because this character was not adapted into the anime, no mentions of (or references to) episodes will be made.

During the second half of Ch. 33^WN, near the end of Ch. 15^Manga, Takumi Kayano visits the Golden Bakery, only to find out it was forced out of business after its owner Rhode had refused to sell the recipe for cream bread (which Takumi taught him in Ch. 24^WN / Ch. 4^Manga) to an aristocrat, who later resorted to falsely accusing Rhode of stealing the recipe from him as a tactic to have all the materials at the bakery seized and to levy a flour embargo on it. Takumi promises to investigate the issue surrounding the aristocrat (who is identified by witnesses as Baron Girbelda) and starts to ask around the flour markets in Shireen, who confirm they are not to sell flour to the Golden Bakery (but refuse to elaborate on why).

Then, in Ch. 34^WN (the final page of Ch. 15^Manga), someone out of the blue starts to accuse Takumi of stealing "his property", in this case the twin kids Alan and Elena. Now going into Ch. 16^Manga, Takumi casts Appraise onto this individual, who is identified as a slave trader, and, knowing that legal slaves in Etelldia must bear a mark made with Contract Magic (something that both kids lack), he confronts the slave trader and demands proof of his ownership of both kids when guards arrive to assess the now-public incident. Unable to prove such ownership (by reason of being a "miser", as previously remarked by Sylphyryll during his idle talk when he narrated the birth story of both kids and how they ended up becoming the property of such a slave trader before they were dumped at the Forest of Gaia when his caravan was attacked by monsters on his way out of the Kingdom of Algo), the guards arrest the slave trader and ask Takumi to go with them for interrogation, until Issac Risner and Granvault Lowain show up to give their word that Alan and Elena are Takumi's siblings (thus ending any need to interrogate Takumi).

The rest of Ch. 34^WN that did not get adapted into the manga reveals that, upon further investigation into this slave trader, he is found to be connected to Baron Girbelda via a so-called Gist Company. Later in Ch. 35^WN and Ch. 36^WN's segments that did not get adapted into the manga either, it is revealed by the investigation (carried out by Vault and Issac's superior, Derrick Louren) that this company has been involved into human trafficking, as well as tax evasion and contraband of branded products. This leads to the slave trader being convicted by Shireen's law system and sentenced to work the mines as forced labor, while the Baron himself is said to be arrested and sent (along with evidence) to Guadia's Royal Capital for further processing (and Takumi expects the Baron to be stripped of his nobiliary titles, downranked, and even subjected to capital punishment, with his supportive family members being also arrested and turned into crime slaves).
