An evil viper (イービルバイパー)? is a ferocious type of monster that can be encountered in the Forest of Gaia.
Background[]
In Ch. 28WN / Ch. 11Manga / Ep. 4Anime, after defeating a pack of bloody wolves and eating properly-cooked food, the Knights of Guadia's expedition led by Issac Risner is suddenly attacked by an evil viper. Many of the attacks (both physical and magical) against the viper fail to penetrate due to its skin being armor-like (hence why its skin is often used as material for top-class armor and shields). Then, Takumi Kayano takes a dagger out of his Inventory and throws it into the viper's left eye, damaging it. Granvault Lowain takes this as a chance to imbue his sword with Fire Magic, resulting in an enchanted flame sword with which he then strikes the viper; but the damage is minimal, and the viper smacks him back. Its tail also strikes Alan and Elena, who suffer a few bruises which are quickly treated by Iris's Heal. Takumi asks everyone to step back a long distance, then casts Wind Edge onto the viper, causing the surrounding trees to be uprooted and presumably damaging the viper enough to make it shed blood (which Vault claims is valuable enough to be inventoried) and leave the area.
