Idle Talk 1: Warmth is one of various short, monologue-like side stories occasionally inserted between pairs of chapters in the original light novel version of A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring. This one specifically, inserted between chapters 11 and 12, is written from Alan's point of view and tells how he remembers both himself and Elena ending up in the Forest of Gaia prior to the events of the prologue, as well as the nice treatments they get from Takumi Kayano prior to their departure to their first adventure towards a labyrinth.

Summary[]

While in the custody of a then-unknown individual (later revealed in Idle Talk 2 to be a slave trader), Alan and Elena, who had not yet been named and had spent their infancy years locked in a dark basement, were awakened and told to get out and board a carriage, not knowing where they would be traveling to. After a long trip, suddenly the carriage was attacked by monsters, while its escort caravan had been separated from it; the boy overheard their captor telling his subordinates to get his sister out and dump her towards the monsters, to which he silently protested. Eventually, both were dropped out of the carriage and left to fend themselves off the monsters in a forest...

Alan then recalls how he and his sister were discovered by Taku, how both were washed and healed by him then fed food that both enjoyed, how both got their names, and how overall they were treated by him, leading the boy to call him "big brother" (お兄さん onīsan)?. He later recalls the good meals and sleeps he and Elena had been having together with Taku, then recalls the sadness both felt when Taku ordered them to stop their Axe Kick attempt towards Dominic, which they feared would lead to them being abandoned by him the same way they were abandoned by their previous, yet-unnamed captor.
