Yusuke Shirai (白井悠介 Shirai Yūsuke)? is a Japanese voice actor affiliated with talent agency EARLY WING. He is the voice provider for protagonist Takumi Kayano in A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring. He was previously known for voicing other characters in various video games (like THE IDOLM@STER SideM, Granblue Fantasy, Arknights, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth) and animated works (like Durarara!!, the anime adaptation of IDOLM@STER SideM, Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- –for which he won the 13th Seiyu Awards in 2019–,[4] and Tokyo Mew Mew New).
Biography[]
He lived his childhood in a house that also doubled as an art supply store, as his grandfather was a career painter.[5] He wanted to become a voice actor and enrolled himself into a vocational school to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, who joined a Tokyo vocational school dedicated to voice acting.[3]
After graduation, he joined two different narrator training centers (including one run by talent agency 81 Produce), only to leave them later. He then decided to try his luck at the Amusement Media Academy; EARLY WING approached him for an affiliation with them a few days before graduation, which he accepted.[6] The debut issue of Cast Voice, a magazine dedicated to male voice actors that started printing in 2015, included an interview with him.[7]
Shirai and his cast partners from Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- won the singing award at the 13th Seiyu Awards, which were held in 2019.[4] The year after, he launched his own YouTube channel.[8]
